Friends of Hilma af Klint Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit devoted to protecting Hilma af Klint's legacy — keeping her body of work whole and honoring the spiritual, non-commercial purpose she intended.

In recent years, members of the Hilma af Klint Foundation's board in Sweden have taken steps toward commercializing her art — a direction that runs counter to both her original vision and the Foundation's founding mission.

Hilma's paintings were never meant to be separated or sold. Each one is part of a greater whole, like a chapter in a book. When the sequence is broken, the story — and the message she hoped to share — begins to fall apart.

Legal proceedings addressing these issues are now underway in Sweden, with one case currently before the County Board and another set to be heard in 2026 at the Stockholm District Court.
